Dagenham and Redbridge have announced the signing of Kenny Clark from Ebbsfleet United on a deal until June 2021, subject to National League approval.

The central defender began his career at the Daggers, as a youth player, but joined Thurrock after his release from the club in 2006. Clark became club captain at a young age at Ship Lane in a four-year spell before Chelmsford fought off competition for his signature in the summer of 2011 and he quickly became a fans’ favourite, establishing himself as captain in a side that reached the play-offs.

After two seasons with Chelmsford, where he featured in more than 80 games, he was snapped up by Dartford where he made 31 Conference Premier appearances. The 30-year-old then joined Ebbsfleet United in July 2014 and went on to make over 200 appearances for the Fleet.

Clark has been involved in nine National League matches so far this season, scoring in Ebbsfleet’s 1-1 draw with Maidstone at the end of October.

He commented on his return to the Daggers:

“Absolutely oven the moon to re-sign for the Daggers, glad to be back where it all started so many years ago. Looking forward to getting down to business on the pitch.”

Daggers manager Peter Taylor also gave his thoughts on the signing of the 30-year-old centre-back:

“We are delighted to have wrapped up the signing of Kenny Clark, he is a very experienced centre half who knows this club well. He is a leader and an organiser, and he will be great signing for us on and off the pitch.” he said.

Clark will wear shirt number 8 and will be available for selection tonight for the Daggers’ fixture against Havant & Waterlooville.
