Bishop`s Stortford have strengthened their defensive options with the addition of young centre-back Harry Darling.

The 17-year-old joins on a month`s loan from League Two club Cambridge United having made one first-team appearance for the U’s in an EFL Trophy group game.

Darling has trained regularly with the Cambs Glass Stadium club’s first-team, and did enough to secure a three-year contract with United.

He has clearly impressed Cambridge boss Shan Derry: “We’re not looking for Premier League players, we’re looking for young people who can come and play for Cambridge United and Harry fits that bill.

“I think it’s his attitude that’s just stuck out for me initially. He’s a coachable young player who wants to learn, but he wants to get involved”.
