Darlington have given a response to inevitable questions over what will happen with regard to this week’s Boston United match being abandoned.

In the National League North match, the Pilgrims were leading Darlo 2-0 when an injury to Quakers defender Nicky Hunt ultimately led to the game being abandoned on 86 minutes.

Darlo have said: “Nicky Hunt is now happily on the road to recovery after his injury on Tuesday night against Boston, and we’ve now had several enquiries from press and fans about whether the result will stand – with the score 2-0 to Boston after 86 minutes of play – or be replayed.

“This decision will be taken by the league in due course. League rule 8.33 says: ‘In the event that a match is abandoned for reasons over which neither club has control, the club playing at home shall retain the gate receipts for such uncompleted match, and the board shall determine the terms upon which any replayed match should be played.’”
