Darlington are set to be without Jamie Holmes for the 2020/21 season.

The former South Shields and Blyth Spartans forward ruptured his ACL last August and has now suffered a recurrence on the same knee.

Manager Alun Armstrong told the club’s website: “I feel really sorry for the lad, because he has worked really hard to get back into first-team reckoning.

“Danny (O’Connor) had spent a lot of time with Jamie during lockdown and said ‘I was really pleased with all the hard work Jamie had done to get himself fully fit, he was flying.’ Then it’s happened again.”
