Jamie Day has left Welling United again, this time to join up with Ady Pennock, who has just been appointed as the new boss at League One neighbours Gillingham.

The pair had returned to the Wings recently and Day was re-appointed Welling manager and Pennock was appointed as football consultant.

The pair had overseen a Wings revival of late, lifting the club out of the relegation zone.

Pennock was appointed Gillingham manager in place of Jus tin Edinburgh and departed the Wings and has now taken Day with him to join the Gills` coaching staff.

Welling owner Mark Goldberg said: “Jamie Day and Ady Pennock have accepted an offer to join Gillingham FC. We are disappointed to lose their services, but accept that their achievements over recent weeks have been recognised and rewarded.

“We thank them for their efforts on behalf of Welling United FC and wish them every success for the future.

“As an interim measure, both Harry Wheeler and Tristan Lewis, who have been involved in coaching sessions recently with the existing squad, have been appointed as a joint caretaker-management team”.
