AFC Telford United boss Gavin Cowan has stressed Ellis Deeney and Amari Morgan-Smith are integral to his plans.
While the new Bucks chief has been busy trying to make signings, midfielder Deeney and Morgan-Smith were already tied down for next season. They signed 18-month deals upon joining in January and February respectively and the situation could have left Cowan in an awkward spot, but he is a big fan of both.
“They’re with us and they’re a massive part of our plans going forward,” he said. “They’re exactly what I’d be looking for if they weren’t with us.”
Deeney, the younger brother of Watford striker Troy, nailed down a starting spot in central midfield after arriving from Tamworth. Industrious and dangerous from set-pieces, the 26-year-old made 19 appearances as the Bucks eventually managed to stay in National League North under Rob Edwards.
He was at Aston Villa as a youngster and has also played for Kettering Town and Worcester City. Morgan-Smith arrived from York City and, while not a regular starter, made a good impression.
