Basford United say they are disappointed to confirm that an agreement has been reached to mutually end Kieran Fenton’s contract.

The Evo-Stik Premier Division club had the following to say on the central defender’s departure:

Kieran was unhappy to be left out of the 1-1 draw away to Warrington and subsequently declared his wish to leave the club. With the player on a big contract and just coming back from a paid injury absence of 4 weeks the Chairman & 1st team manager Martin Carruthers reluctantly agreed to this request.

The club would like to thank Kieran for his efforts over the last 2 years and wish him all the best in the future.
The club states it does not have a policy of releasing contracted players from their contracts but felt it necessary in this instance.
