Defender, Brad Gascoigne, is delighted with the business that Nuneaton Town have done already this summer.
“The Gaffer has done well to keep together most of last season’s squad and the new signings that he has made have really strengthened us,” he said. “It’s important to get things done early so that we can get to know each other and be ready to hit the ground running.
“The banter has already started flying around between us all, so that bodes well for when we get back to pre-season training at the beginning of July.
“It’s going to be an even tougher League this time around. I think that the teams coming down from the level above will be surprised exactly how difficult it will be.
“There are a lot of good teams but we will be looking to build on the momentum that we had at the end of last season and take it into the new campaign.
“We’ve got an exciting schedule of pre-season matches to look forward to that will really test us to the limit.
“The summer tournament is also something to look forward to; I’ve played in one of these previously under the Gaffer and they are ideal – I know for a fact he’ll be going all out to win it!”
The former Alfreton Town man will be keeping himself ticking over during the weeks ahead, in fact he stepped straight out of the gym to do this interview!
“I want to make sure that I come back as fit as possible,” he added. “This is going to be a big season for me and I am doing all I can to ensure I make the most of this opportunity and give a good account of myself.
“The Gaffer instils plenty of confidence and belief into all of his players; his man-management is excellent, you want to run through brick walls for him and this shows on the pitch.
“It’s a good environment here. We’re able to express ourselves and enjoy our football, which is how it should be.
“Hopefully we can show the consistency both individually and collectively that will see us up there challenging amongst the leading pack.”
