Handsworth Parramore have confirmed the capture of 20 year old left back Connor Smythe.
The Ambers have been long time admirers of the former Scunthorpe United scholar and have kept a close eye on the progress of the talented defender.
Smythe was released from the pro game by Scunthorpe United and earned a move to Boston United. From Boston he moved to Parramore’s tenants at Sandy Lane and quickly established himself as regular in the Worksop Town line-up.
Smythe fell out of favour and had a successful loan spell at Shirebrook Town before re-signing for the Tigers at the start of this season. He moved at the end of August to Rainworth where his consistency and quality have earned him many plaudits and admirers.
Sheffield Born Smythe said of his move to the Ambers “Its a fantastic opportunity for me, I know all about the club , its infrastructure and ambition and had no hesitation in taking this step as I look to progress up the pyramid”
“Coming from Sheffield I know all to well what a fantastic youth set up there is at Handsworth , and there is real quality in the 1st team squad ,I cant wait to be part of it ,I’ve had a great spell at Rainworth and thank everyone there but feel this is a real chance for me to push on and test myself, I cant wait to get started”
Mick Godber said of the signing “First of all I must thank Rainworth and Julian Watts in Particular for their professionalism in helping get the move done as quickly as possible , I’m really pleased to have been able to bring Connor in. He’s been on our radar for a while and he’s up for the challenge here at Handsworth, he(Connor) has shown a tremendous desire to be at the club”
