Lancaster City have confirmed the departure of defender Luke Thompson.

Thompson made just six starts for the Dollies following his move from Ramsbottom in the summer. In an already injury-blighted campaign, the 28-year-old has found the travel to Lancaster a difficult factor.

“It’s disappointing as I felt he’d acquitted himself well,” said manager Mark Fell, “This league is relentless and Thommo has a few historical injuries that were hampering him.

“He’d also found the travel from Burnley tough and I have to respect that. He will play more locally and for him it’s important to get back to playing regularly and enjoying his football.

“He’s a great lad who’s character will be missed as well as his committed style of play.”
