Hereford have said that standing in the way of Lenell John-Lewis’ move to Grimsby Town would not have been right.
The 31-year-old forward was announced as a new addition for his former club yesterday.
Having said at the end of last week that John-Lewis was not for sale and an approach had been rejected, Hereford have clarified their subsequent decision to allow him to depart:
“It is with a heavy heart that the club have accepted a revised offer for Lenell John-Lewis from Grimsby Town, for an undisclosed fee.
“With the uncertainty around the continuation of the National League, it would not be right to stand in the way of a player that is given the opportunity to play in the EFL.”
