(From Surrey Live) They still have 24 points to play for and with the majority of their remaining games coming against sides near the bottom of the table, if Aldershot Town don’t pick up points then they deserve to be relegated, according to captain Scott Rendell.
The Shots travel to Boreham Wood on Saturday and then Barnet on Tuesday – both sides who sit just above the National League relegation zone.
They then face high-flying AFC Fylde before games against mid-table Bromley and Hartlepool United.
While the Shots final three games of the season are against fellow strugglers Dover Athletic, Havant & Waterlooville and Maidstone United.
And Rendell is confident Aldershot have the quality and determination to win those games – and if they don’t then he reasoned the club probably don’t deserve their place in non-league’s top tier.
“You just need the first win, however it comes,” the striker said.
“Everything looks dull and dark and dreary at the moment but it’s amazing what happens in football and no one in the changing room is going to give up. We just need to leave it all out there and get that first win and then anything can happen.”
