Horsham manager Dom Di Paola reckons his side couldn’t have a tougher start next weekend but he’s still challenging his players to cause some early-season shockwaves!
The Southern Combination League champions make a welcome return to the Ryman League next Saturday with their Ryman South campaign kicking off at home to Carshalton Athletic.
The Hornets then travel to another of the Ryman’s newcomers, Greenwich Borough, before difficult games against fancied sides Hythe and Lewes.
Di Paolo wants his side to show similar spirit to last term and told the West Sussex County Times this week: “It’s a tough start, it’s a very tough start. Greenwich have players that won the Conference a couple of seasons ago but there’s a lot of good teams in the league – we have a lot of them early on.
“It will be a great test, even if we can’t ease ourselves in. You have to play every team twice I suppose and there are no easy games in this league. We want to try and push forward this season and we’re really excited about being in Step 4 again.”
