National League club Southport have announced that manager Dino Maamria has taken the decision to leave the club.
Maamria was appointed as Sandgrounders boss in November 2015, following the departure of former manager Paul Carden.
The Tunisian took over with the club struggling in the National League relegation zone and oversaw a fine run of form that saw them move away from the bottom four.
Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Welling United has left the Sandgrounders eight points ahead of twenty first placed Altrincham.
However, the club have now confirmed that Maamria has departed, citing family and travel issues as his reason for coming to the decision.
A statement on the club website read “Southport Football Club confirm that manager Dino Maamria has left his post due to family and travel reasons. We would like to thank Dino for his efforts during his successful spell in charge and wish him the best in the future”
