The winners of the MBNA Northwest Football Awards 2016 have been announced, celebrating things good in the region’s football world, from grass roots to the Premier League and the treatment table to the Boardroom.
With all of the player-related awards voted for by football fans, the awards were presented on Sunday night at a glitzy black tie event in Manchester.
Tranmere Rovers` striker James Norwood collected the Vanarama National League player of the year title after scoring 19 goals last season – and having already scored 7 league goals this season to date.
Norwood joined the likes of Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, who was named Premier League player of the year, former non-League star Andre Gray, who was named Championship player of the year, on stage after receiving their trophies.
Tranmere also received the award for the Best Club Sponsorship & Fan Engagement Campaign for our #SWA2 ticketing initiative.
#SWA2 is a fund which allows under-privileged people in the local community to attend matches at Prenton Park.
It began at the beginning of last season with a couple of supporters donating season tickets to good causes and has since grown and grown with the help of the Tranmere Rovers Official Supporters Club, Tranmere Rovers Trust, local businesses and individual donations.
