Hampton & Richmond Borough have made a couple of signings ahead of their Emirates FA Cup 4th qualifying round tie.
Midfielder Dan Sweeney has joined the club on an initial one month’s loan from Barnet. Sweeney is a player who boss Alan Dowson knows well from his time at Kingstonian, the player making over 100 appearances for K’s before joining Dulwich Hamlet in 2015 and then Maidstone Utd before moving to Barnet this year.
Dan also has one appearance for England C side, coming off the bench in the 4-3 International Challenge Trophy defeat to Slovakia under 21s.
It’s also a welcome to keeper Martin Brennan, who came to the club in the latter stages of the promotion season, as cover for Mark Smith. Supporters will recall him making a starting appearance in the penultimate game of the season away against Grays Athletic, due to illness to Smith, a match the Beavers won 3-0.
He’s more widely known as the driving force behind Developing Goalkeeping UK, an elite goalkeeping coaching school, but has agreed to come back to the club to provide backup to Sam Howes.
