Scarborough Athletic have announced the new additions of midfielders Luke Dean and Matt Dempsey.

Luke Dean joins from Bradford Park Avenue in the National League North. The 26-year-old started his career at Bradford City and progressed through the youth ranks at the Bantams before joining Harrogate Town. After 53 appearances, Luke went on to join Bradford Park Avenue in pre-season two years ago before deciding to move to Boro for the new season.

Matt Dempsey played at Hyde United last season, scoring 4 goals in 35 appearances. Matt played under Steve Kittrick at Guiseley as well as spells at Shaw Lane, Bradford Park Avenue and Farsley Celtic.

Boro boss Steve Kittrick was pleased with the two new additions. He said: “Luke had offers from other National League North sides but he wants to be a part of what we are building at Scarborough. Both Luke and Matt are young and hungry and they have both played at a higher level so will bring that experience to help us next season.”

The two new additions come on the back of the retention of Dave Merris, Jamie Price, James Cadman and Matty Turnbull committing to the club last week. Steve Kittrick is continuing to speak to players old and new ahead of the 2017/18 season.
