Dover Athletic manager Andy Hessenthaler remains hopeful of keeping captain Mitch Brundle and Connor Essam at the club after revealing they have problems with the switch to full-time training, report Kent Live.
Backup goalkeeper Chris Lewington has also been named as a third player affected, with Hessenthaler confirming he “can’t do the full-time training.” Brundle and Essam have been ever-present for the Whites since both joining in the summer of 2017, and have both started every game of this season.
Previously, the boss said that he may lose a “couple of good players” as a result of the change to full-time training.
He also said before that some players had got other jobs because they weren’t training on a full-time basis. However, Hessenthaler has previously said all players are currently on full-time contracts at the club.
The club is trying to resolve the situation, with the manager hopeful that there can be a positive outcome “within the next week.”
