Inih Effiong believes Dover’s season starts now as they bid to survive in the National League, report Kent Online.

Whites won just their second match in the league on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Maidenhead United.

In all competitions under new manager Andy Hessenthaler, Dover have won two, lost two and drawn one.

Effiong said: “The season does start now. We have the impetus to go on and win games.

“In the last few matches we haven’t started well but we have finished strongly. If we can have that over 90 minutes, I’m sure we can get out of the rut we are in.

“It was a good win. We played well in the second half of the last game (against Dagenham). The first half let us down and then we hit the post and crossbar three times.

“We knew that we had it in us to dominate games and that’s what we did.

“We had to make sure we cleaned up at the back and stop conceding goals.

“I don’t think we will have problems getting goals, so as long as we are solid at the back.”
