Midfielder Charlie Duke has moved from Torquay United to National League South side Truro City in a one-month loan deal.
The 19-year-old made an appearance in the St Luke’s Cup this season in Torquay`s 3-1 defeat against Barnstaple Town in September.
Player-manager Kevin Nicholson is eager to see the young, combative midfielder challenge himself at a higher level after a similar move to South West Peninsula League side St Austell earlier in the season.
“He’s going to Truro and he’ll be working with Truro manager Lee Hodges, who is a good friend of mine. I’ll be able to keep close tabs on how he is doing,” said Nicholson. “From his point of view, to be playing at National League South level which would be the highest level he will have played at, is a good test for him.
“I think he’s ready for it and I think he’ll cope well but it is the next obvious step in his progression. I don’t think he’s quite ready for us yet in the first-team but if he goes there and does well then he’ll have a case to knock on my door and try and force my hand.
“It’s great for him and hopefully it works out for Truro and Hodgey as well because I have a lot of time for them”.
