Bedford Town have completed the signing of Giani Ashley.
Ashley is a 20 year old right sided player, who can play Right back, right midfield and left back.
He has spent the last couple of months training with the Eagles, after starting his studies at the University of Bedfordshire.
He has a strong history at Hornchurch, playing through the youth set up there and into the first team. Ashley was at Cambridge City at the start of this season, before leaving in October.
Speaking exclusively to www.bedfordeagles.net, Eagles Manager Jon Taylor said “Giani has been training with us for the last 2-3 months and has really impressed me. He is a very talented player who has got electrifying pace.”
Taylor continued “He gives you that little bit of quality on the ball, excellent recovery when beaten and his awareness and ability to read the game is a testament to him. I am sure he will prove to be a good asset to my squad and I know he has the desire and appetite to want to start in the team every week. Competition for places is what I am looking for and I want and need everybody in the team looking over their shoulder as it is healthy to have players being kept on their toes.”
The addition of Ashley will come as a relief to the Eagles, as they prepare for Saturday’s away game at AFC Dunstable. Devante Stanley continues to be a doubt for the game as his struggle against injury continues. Matt Clifford and Jemale McKenzie-Lowe will also miss the Dunstable trip due to personal reasons.
With Hammed Lawal having also left the club to join a professional side in Iceland, Taylor will be looking to add more players in the coming days to reinforce the squad.
