Eastbourne United manager Matt Crabb has stepped down.

The Southern Combination League Premier Division club have said: “Following Saturday’s defeat away to Steyning, Matt Crabb tendered his resignation as first-team manager, which the committee have reluctantly accepted. Matt has done a fantastic job, starting of course with that nine-game unbeaten run last season, culminating in a sixth place (finish) when the season was curtailed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

“The committee want to place on record their gratitude to Matt for the dedication, enthusiasm and work that he and his family have put into the club, and we wish them all the best for the future.”

Assistant boss Ray Collier has been confirmed as the new manager, assisted by Aidan McManus.
