John Askey believes that Macclesfield Town have a good opportunity to get into the playoff places following a good win away at Eastleigh.

After a 2-0 victory at the Moss at the weekend, Askey’s men are now just three points shy of Dover who currently occupy fifth place, and the manager has confidence in his players to deliver.

“We’ve got a realistic chance, as I said after the disappointment of last week we’re back in it. There’s no reason why you can’t win every game from now until the end of the season if we put the effort in that we put in tonight and play like we did then we’re more than a match for anyone”.

Rhys Browne’s strike after seven minutes against Eastleigh was enough to seal the three points for the Silkmen, before being subbed off through injury towards the closing stages, and Askey was pleased with the winger’s impact during the game.

“I don’t think the injury is too serious; Rhys scored a terrific goal, brought the ball down well and got past his man and finished well so that’s a plus point that he’s come into the squad and done well. He should be okay for Saturday”.
