Junior Morias is out of Ebbsfleet’s price range – but they are trying to sign someone in the mould of the Peterborough striker.
Morias played with Fleet boss Daryl McMahon at Boreham Wood and the club did express interest in the 22-year-old.
But with Posh asking more than £100,000 for Morias, it’s unlikely he’ll be heading to Stonebridge Road.
McMahon said: “I know Junior well. He’s a fantastic player but it’s probably a bit too much for us. We’re looking for a player, if we can find him, of that calibre at the right price.
“Junior’s a terrific young player, only 22, and he will be a Football League player all day long. If we could have got him, he would have been a big one for us.”
Fleet’s players report back for pre-season training next week and McMahon hopes to add to his squad before they fly to Portugal for a training camp.
He said: “We’ve got a decent group but now we need to add some real quality as and when it becomes available.
“We’re in the market for two positions at the minute and one of them’s taking longer than most.”
