Daryl McMahon has promised in-form Ebbsfleet will get after Wrexham in Saturday’s big promotion clash.
Hosts Fleet are on their best run at this level for 10 years and have climbed to the brink of the National League play-offs after four straight wins. By contrast, six draws in their last seven games have seen Wrexham slide from top to sixth.
Boss McMahon said: “Wrexham have been up there all season and they’re a massive club. Dean Keates (manager) has done a great job but we’ve got nothing to lose.
“There’s not a lot expected of us whereas they’ve been in and among it all year. It’s a game we can go and enjoy. They’re in a period where they need more wins but we can take the shackles off.”
Ebbsfleet, who won 1-0 at Hartlepool on Saturday, also beat Solihull, Halifax and Woking during February.
McMahon said: “Hartlepool, Wrexham and Leyton Orient (who Fleet visit next weekend) are three big ex-League clubs and they’re expected to be competing. Wrexham have made a good signing in Simon Ainge from Harrogate, they’ve got Scott Quigley who’s getting goals and Marcus Kelly is a good player in midfield.
“They’re a good side but we are as well on our day. I’m sure everybody will say Wrexham have had a good season but we’re five points behind them and we’ll see what happens on Saturday.
“We certainly took the shackles off against Hartlepool and we intend to do the same against Wrexham and Leyton Orient.”
