Boreham Wood have announced the capture of winger Sean Shields on a long-term loan from Ebbsfleet United.

The quick-footed frontman has featured 18 times for Ebbsfleet United so far this season, as well as a further three times while on a short-term loan with Maidstone United.

The 26-year-old will now join up with his new teammates at Meadow Park, ready for Saturday’s clash away to Dagenham & Redbridge.

On joining the Wood, Shields said: “I have known about the club for years, being a local boy from North London, and I have played against them both in the Conference South and the National League.

“I have also known about the gaffer here for years, and he is very good friends with my old gaffer Daryl McMahon, at Ebbsfleet. I like the way that he sets his teams out, it is exciting and attacking. That is a massive part of what I want to bring to the table as a player, I like to excite the fans and I like to take risks and make things happen.

“So, hopefully I can make a good start here and kick on during the rest of the season. I can go either way, on my right or left foot, and I can play anywhere in the attack. I can make assists and score goals, and just overall, be as exciting as possible.”

Wood manager Luke Garrard said of his new singing: “I know Daryl McMahon very well and he used to speak so highly of him.

“You see that he has got unbelievable ability and unbelievable quality, I have just had him in the building for an hour and a half, and I am salivating, because of what he can deliver up.

“His quality is superb, and he is a threat when he lands on it. He can go right or left, and he must be 150 games deep at this level and that shows an experience of where we are at, in regards to signing him.

“I am quite happy that he has the mindset of wanting to progress at this football club, with me, with his teammates, and with the personnel who we have here, and like I said about Idris, we will give him a platform.

“As long as he works hard, delivers on that, and is listening to the structure out of possession, I know what he can offer up when he is in possession.”
