Medy Elito has told of his delight at reuniting with his former boss John Still at Barnet.
The 28-year-old attacking player has become the Bees’ tenth new signing of this summer. The Congolese-born player has penned a two-year deal with the recently-relegated National League side and he joins from Cambridge United.
It brings him back together with his former Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still, who returned to the Barnet manager’s role this summer. Elito, who had been on trial with Barnet, told the club’s website:
“I’m happy to get a deal done, I’m enjoying training and the wonderful facilities you have got here. I’m ready to start the season.
“(John Still) knows me well, he had me when I was 21, he spoke to me over the phone and I was easily persuaded to come to Barnet.”
Still said of Elito:
“He’s an experienced player now, I remember watching him at Colchester, I really liked him and I was able to sign him at Dagenham. He then went on to play abroad and then on to Newport.
“He did really, really well at Newport and moved to Cambridge. Changes of management at Cambridge has meant Medy has become available.
“I’m actually delighted to get him here because we were in with a few that were trying to take him, in League Two and in this league. We waited with five other sides, he came to talk and we’ve managed to get it done.
“He can play wide right, wide left or as a 10 and it’s a no-brainer because he is a good player.”
