Ian Evatt believes talented young players are starting to see Barrow AFC as the perfect springboard for them to fly further up the football pyramid.

Whether it be at AFC – with Evatt ambitious to take the Bluebirds beyond the National League – or with other clubs, the Barrow boss is confident Holker Street under his stewardship can be the place to develop diamonds.

He feels that has been shown by the signing of former Middlesbrough defender Matthew Elsdon, and strikers Rhys Turner and Jacob Blyth – all of whom he feels should be playing higher and can shine with Barrow.

“It shows what we’re trying to do here and the project that we are going ahead with,” said Evatt, whose recruitment has seen him bring in seven players since his arrival last month, with numerous others still on trial.

“Lads are buying into it, they want to be a part of it, and I think we have shown in the last two games that the lads are buying into what we’re doing, the standards we’re setting, the professional standards that the club are allowing me to bring in.”
