The hunt for an assistant boss has taken centre-stage for new Barrow AFC boss Ian Evatt in the early days of his reign.
The former Blackpool and QPR central defender was announced as Bluebirds manager on Friday, and has spent the early part of this week interviewing candidates.
Meeting with both familiar and unfamiliar faces, he has picked out a preferred option in the hope of a fast appointment.
With the start of pre-season training less than two weeks away, and the first friendly on Saturday, July 7, Evatt knows there is a lot of work to be done, and sees hiring his right-hand man as a top priority.
“The last two days, I’ve been interviewing people in Manchester,” Evatt revealed. “It’s a massive decision and it’s important we get it right.
“I won’t just be doing that with the back-room staff, I’ll be doing that with the players we recruit as well. I think we need to make sure that we get the right characters into the building – characters I know are going to be consistent with what we do and give 110 per cent; hard grafters.”
