Barrow manager Ian Evatt felt Olly Dyson’s cameo during last Saturday’s 4-0 victory at Maidenhead demonstrated the depth of talent he has at his disposal in his squad.
Dyson was brought on for midfielder Tom White with 11 minutes remaining at York Road and the result already in the bag, but he immediately went about trying to impress Evatt in what was his first outing for two weeks.
The 19-year-old, who is on loan from Championship club Huddersfield Town, did just that in the closing stages, ensuring his boss’ biggest win in charge of AFC with a neat finish into the bottom corner after being put through by Scott Quigley.
It was Dyson’s third goal of the season and his performance gave Evatt something to think about ahead of what will be a crucial month in the Bluebirds’ season.
Evatt said: “I’m so pleased for him and it’s a message to everybody that we have some very good players who are not in the [starting] XI at the moment.”
