Dale Jennings has put pen to paper to return to Runcorn Town for a second season in what is a massive boost to manager Paul McManus’ plans.

The former Tranmere Rovers, Bayern Munich, Barnsley and MK Dons midfielder surprised many within the game after signing for Runcorn in October last season. He went on to make 16 appearances and scored 7 goals for the club. However, he struggled for much of the season with a knee injury that hampered both his performances and his availability.

After successful keyhole surgery in the close-season, Jennings is ready to now resume his push to get back into the professional game. And he sees the Viridor Community Stadium as the perfect place to do that, despite a lot of interest from further up the footballing pyramid.

He explained: “I have opted to stay at Runcorn Town as the club has big ambitions themselves for the forthcoming season that I would like to help them realise. With retaining most of the players from last season, and the quality additions that Macca has added, I think it is going to be a great season for us.

“I have had offers from other clubs but it would have to be the right move if I went elsewhere. It’s important to me that I enjoy my football which I do here at Runcorn with the lads we have in the squad.

“The supporters have welcomed me and my family to the club and showed me a lot of love and support. They would like to see the club promoted as well as the players, and with three promotion places this year, I would very much like to be a part of helping the club do that.”

Manager Paul McManus was ecstatic: “Dale staying feels every bit as good as a new signing. We saw glimpses of his quality last season, however this season we shall see week in, week out what he is all about.

“He has had his operation now, he is working hard on his fitness and he looks sharp in the pre-season sessions we have had so far. If he can maintain things the way he has, then I have no doubt that he can become the best player in the North West Counties League Premier Division.”
