Josh McQuoid said it was ‘good to give the fans something special’ as he played a starring role in Weymouth’s 5-0 destruction of Dorchester in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South, report the Dorset Echo.

The winger was later voted man of the match, during which he set up one goal and scored two goals in a fantastic performance.

He said: “We are obviously still going on that unbeaten run which is positive and obviously with the local derby it is nice to give the fans something special like that.”

Reflecting upon his own performance, he admitted it was his best game so far for the Terras, who he joined prior to the 2-2 draw at Winchester City in the final pre-season match, and his first-half goal was his first for Weymouth.

McQuoid said: “I think it is my best game so far. I am still getting up to match fitness and two games in three days is obviously tough but I think the lads obviously have done very well and it was obviously pleasing for myself to get off the mark with two goals.”
