Former Preston North End striker Karl Hawley has left Stafford Rangers and signed for Sutton Coldfield Town.

The Evo-Stik Premier side have confirmed that the 36-year-old has been released from his registration with the club and that they wish him well for the future. Hawley has also had spells with Carlisle United, Notts County, Scunthorpe United and Torquay United during his career and earlier this season was put in caretaker charge of Boston United.

As he joins up with Neil Tooth’s Sutton Coldfield setup, he will also be part of the coaching staff. Tooth told the club website:

“I’m really pleased to get Karl on board and his experience in the dressing room and on the pitch will be so important to us over the coming weeks. We now have some really exciting striking options available to us with a great mix of experience and know-how as well as pace and energy.

“Karl is also joining my coaching staff and his wealth of experience will be fantastic for the younger players in the squad.”
