New King’s Lynn Town arrival Chris Smith has reflected on his time with Ipswich Town and has spoken about his move to the Walks last week.

The Suffolk-based centre-back made the switch to pastures new in Norfolk on Thursday after being released by the Blues at the end of last season. Smith said: “Being involved with Ipswich first team is my main highlight so far. I made the bench a few times but my main highlight was making my debut in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace.

“That’s something that will stay with me forever. Dropping out of the pro game has been a difficult decision to make but coming to a well-run team like King’s Lynn has made it easier so it doesn’t feel like such a change from the professional game and playing in competitive games each week is much more enjoyable than being involved in under-23s football.”

The 21-year-old hasn’t given up making a return to the League game later in his career.

“The team looks to play an attractive style of football and hopefully people will start to talk about us if we pick up results doing this too,” said Smith. “If I can be a part of a successful team playing football in the right way then I think it will give me a good chance of getting back into the league game.”
