Evo-Stik League Premier side Warrington Town had made something of a coup in capturing the services of former Swindon Town star Billy Paynter in late-November, but the veteran striker has now retired from the game.

The 33-year-old Liverpudlian, who also played in the Championship with clubs such as Leeds United and Hull City, had reportedly departed Warrington Town to pursue the chance of a deal at League Two Crawley Town, though he has since confirmed his retirement after suffering a ruptured achilles.
