Hull Live report that former North Ferriby United chairman Les Hare is leading a rescue package to resurrect the defunct club.

Hare, who oversaw the greatest period of success in the football club’s history, including two Wembley wins, is leading a consortium of local businessmen, working alongside a core group of supporters in an attempt to see a phoenix football club rise from the ashes of the Villagers’ liquidation this morning.

An application has already been lodged with the FA in the hope of seeing a new Ferriby side gain entry into step five of the non-league football pyramid, beginning next season in the Premier Division of the Northern Counties East League.

That would represent a further relegation to the one the former Villagers’ side were on course for, but would be seen as a significant starting off point for the new club, who many feared would have to start two divisions below in the Humber Premier League.
