Ricky Marheineke has appointed former Northampton Town midfielder Craig Adams as his new assistant at Westwood Road.

The St Ives Town boss has been without a permanent number two since Jack Cassidy left to take a new role at Bedford Town in January. He has been assisted by first team coach Ryan Semple and ladies’ team manager Darren Marjoram, but has now made Adams his second in command.

Adams was until recently assistant to Chris Nunn at Biggleswade Town, but has followed his former boss out of the exit door at Langford Road. The 44 year old made just the one professional appearance for Northampton before drifting into non-league football with VS Rugby, Dunstable Town and Leicester United.

He has managed Wellingborough Town twice as well as having spells in the dugout at Rugby Town and Bedford Town, and has also coached the U16s at Peterborough United.
