Veteran defender Wayne Thomas has resumed his playing career with Worcester City at the age of 38.
The ex-Stoke City, Southampton and Burnley centre-half, who had two spells with City in the Conference North era before leaving in 2016, was sacked as manager of Rushall Olympic after just 14 games in charge on Saturday.
Worcester joint-boss John Snape revealed he had got straight on to Thomas about a comeback with the deal sealed in spite of interest from elsewhere.
“Wayne is a welcome addition back at the club,” said Snape. “It is not just his playing ability but the professionalism he brings, the high standards he sets.”
