Once again, The FA Cup has provided the platform for an historic moment. For the first time ever in the world’s oldest knockout cup competition, home and away fans can buy and receive digital tickets for the same match, all through one ticketing portal.
This means that supporters can purchase a ticket in the home or away end and have it delivered to them electronically in a matter of seconds. It is the first time ever that home and away supporters have been able to do this for the same fixture.
The cutting edge technology – provided by ticketing specialists, Kaizen – is being trialled ahead of the Concord Rangers FC’s second qualifying round clash against Margate FC on Saturday 22nd September with supporters roundly praising the impact, especially as the need to queue at turnstiles on match day is a thing of the past.
Supporters were able to buy tickets shortly after Concord drew Margate, which has allowed the clubs to bank revenues quicker. Additionally, the clubs are making cost and time savings thanks to physical tickets being rendered redundant.
Kaizen supply both Concord and Margate with ticketing and merchandise software. One of the advantages of the platform is that any team using it can make specific ticket categories and quantities available to another club’s site – hence how the seamless Margate and Concord set-up has worked.
David Lynam, Managing Director at Kaizen, said: “I’m really excited about this breakthrough. To see two teams in different leagues using this really shows the benefit of the platform. It’s perfect for any fan that wants to take care of their ticket purchase in advance, so they have one less thing to worry about on match day. The fact this is for an FA Cup match makes it extra special.”
