Chertsey Town have announced the appointment of Stephen Dormer as the club’s new director of football.

The Curfews, who remain the current FA Vase holders from their 2019 success, appoint Dormer following the decision by David Rayner to step down.

Rayner’s contribution at the club has also involved time as chairman.

Current chairman Mark Turner said of his decision to step away from his directorial role:

“Dave’s involvement will be greatly missed. He was the catalyst that brought me back to the club where I had played many years before.

“We worked well as a team and had a shared vision of where the club was and is going. That vision and direction will continue with the same energy and passion that Dave brought to the club.

“The Rayner legacy has left Chertsey Town in a good place. His planned departure allows for new energy and ideas to springboard the club into the next chapter.

“His achievements and contribution to the club will not be forgotten. He has helped to provide a stable base from which future success is sure to follow.”
