Upbeat Spencer Day reckons Farnborough possess the youngest and most exciting team in Southern League Premier South and are ready to “go to the next level” as the club pursues a two-year plan.
The Boro manager was commenting after watching his talented young team beat Walton Casuals 2-1 on Saturday in a match which should have seen a far wider margin of victory given the number of chances the hosts missed, including Reggie Young’s penalty early in the second half with the score at 2-1.
Now Day, together with owner and local businessman Rob Prince, as well as chairman Simon Gardener, are plotting a positive future for Farnborough which they believe can include a return to the National League South in the medium term.
Boro have returned to stability after a troubled past and Day reflected: “We are not going to apologise for the fact we’ve got no debt, we pay all the bills, we pay the rent.
“That’s never really happened before and it’s not easy to come back from what the club’s been through the last two times when it’s gone bust for so many millions of pounds.”
