Farsley Celtic have signed defender Jordan Richards from Southport for the upcoming campaign.
Richards becomes the third summer signing for Adam Lakeland as he looks to strengthen his squad for the upcoming campaign in the National League North.
Richards began his career with Hartlepool United in the Football League, making 66 appearances for the side. He has also appeared for Alfreton Town, AFC Fylde and most recently Southport, where he was a regular in the starting line-up last season.
Lakeland commented on the signing: “I’m delighted to have Jordan on board and I think he will prove to be an excellent addition to our squad.
“Jordan is an offensive full back with excellent technical qualities, in particular his distribution, delivery from crosses and set plays. He brings valuable experience at this level and above which will be important for us and at 26 he is at a good age, so it ticked all the boxes we were looking for and I’m looking forward to working with him.
“Following the injury to Lewis (Turner) last season, who for me was the best right-back in the Northern Premier League, we utilised Ben (Atkinson) at wing-back. Ben did an excellent job but we lost his running power from midfield.
“When the opportunity came to sign a player of Jordan’s qualities and experience, we felt we had to move and I’m sure he will enjoy being a part of the group. I feel the squad has excellent balance now as well as competition for places and I’m excited to start working with the players again as we prepare for the season ahead.”
