The FA’s Alliance Committee have decided to support last month’s decision to null and void the current season at Step 2.
There have been a number of National League North and South clubs who have contested the decision in recent weeks, with the idea of a ‘mini-league’ for the clubs who wish to continue the season put forward.
The FA’s Alliance Committee have, subject to FA Council approval, decided to support the following:
The Step 1 (National League) season continuing – with no relegation
The Step 2 (National League North and South) season declared null and void – with no promotion or relegation
A statement adds: “Consideration was also given to an alternative sporting solution at Step 2 in line with a proposal submitted by certain Step 2 clubs that wished to continue playing. The Alliance Committee rejected the proposal, and any alternative, in the interest of the integrity of the National League System.
“Further reasons for this decision will be communicated directly to clubs in due course.”
