Altrincham versus Wrexham in the National League tonight has had a change of venue.
The game has been moved from Alty’s J. Davidson Stadium to FC United of Manchester’s Broadhurst Park to ensure it can take place, in light of the challenging weather.
Alty say the decision was taken ‘after an assessment of how the pitch at The J.Davidson Stadium had been adversely affected by last month’s exceptional rainfall.’
Director Rob Esteva told the club’s website: “Our absolute priority is to get our games played, and the National League have been proactive in working with us to find a solution for this fixture and potentially more. We have had three times the amount of rain in January compared to the average rainfall, and it has taken its toll on the pitch.
“The fact we were unable to do our usual renovations to the pitch in the summer due to the play-offs continues to hamper us, but our absolute focus is to ensure we can fulfil our fixtures. We have had several positive conversations around the pitch works required, and co-chairman Bill Waterson will provide more details in his programme notes for the game.
“We would like to thank everybody at FC United for their cooperation in hosting this game, and we look forward to welcoming Wrexham tomorrow evening.”
