Charlton Athletic have this week recalled midfielder Albie Morgan from Ebbsfleet United.

In a blow to manager Kevin Watson’s pre-match preparations for the forthcoming Stockport County game and the fixtures beyond, 19-year-old Morgan returns to The Valley ahead of Charlton’s Championship clash at home to Cardiff City on Saturday.

Watson had extended Morgan’s loan ten days ago to keep him at the club into early January, and following the weekend draw with Hartlepool United, the midfielder had expressed his desire to help the Fleet add to their points total through to the New Year.

However, a growing injury list at Charlton which has seen Lyle Taylor, Johnny Williams, Sam Field, Lewis Page and Jake Forster-Caskey on the sidelines in recent weeks means Morgan may be required for first-team squad duty in the coming days at The Valley.
