Macclesfield Town’s new signing Scott Flinders has spoken of his delight at joining John Askey’s men, with the goalkeeper moving on a one month loan deal from York City.
Speaking to MTFC.co.uk, Flinders said: “I got a call at the start of the week to see if I wanted to play some games.
“As a footballer you get judged as you play games. I’ve played a lot of games in my career and it’s a great opportunity at a good club to carry on doing that.”
Flinders had his first training session with the Silkmen yesterday, and is already impressed with his new teammates as a group.
“There’s a mixed group in there some young lads and some more experienced players, and it was my first day here yesterday,” he said. “They’re a great bunch of lads and are doing well in the league so hopefully we can push on and carry on pushing up.”
Even though he is only going to be with the club initially for a month, Flinders’ ambitions for the club are the same as the rest of the squad, and believes the club can push for promotion this season.
“You look at certain teams during the season and Macc have always been up there. It’s my first time playing in the National League as well, and I think if you can put a winning run together you’ll be right up there, that’s why I wanted to come here this season.”
