Mike Fondop is a man in form but the striker insists Wrexham’s excellent start to the season has been a team effort, report The Leader.
Summer signing Fondop, who played for Halifax Town and Guiseley last season, has scored four goals in five games, helping Wrexham take 13 points from a possible 15 to go top of the National League.
Although pleased to be a regular on the scoresheet, fans favourite Fondop insists all the players have played their part in the excellent start.
“I am just delighted I have started like this,” said Fondop, who was also in the goals during pre-season.
“It has been really good but not only me, it is all about the team.
“Everyone has been participating and everyone is giving everything. I am just trying to do my job and I know it is my job to score goals.”
Fondop’s latest goal came in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Eastleigh, the frontman managing to beat defender Reda Johnson before finding the back of the net.
“It wasn’t easy because he was quite physical,” said Fondop.
“We saw video clips of Eastleigh before the game and I went for my strength against his weaknesses because I know he is quite powerful and strong.
“But I knew I could take him with my pace in a one-on-one situation and thankfully it went in.”
