Mike Fondop hailed the team-spirit within the Wrexham camp ahead of a crucial National League top of the table clash, and insisted the goals will start to flow once again for the striker.

Fondop was recalled to the starting XI for last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Maidstone United having been reduced to bench duty for the previous three outings.

The striker was a threat for the Stones defence in the first half of the Gallagher Stadium stalemate, but tailed off after the break as service to him became limited.

The Cameroon-born front man hopes to have kept his place for Saturday’s visit of league leaders Leyton Orient, but insists he is fully behind whoever starts for the Dragons.

“It always feels good to get back into the side after being dropped,” said the striker. “As a striker, when you go through a drought period you should be expecting to be dropped to the bench and watching others given an opportunity.

“It is not like I was angry or upset about it, obviously I want to play every game, but you have got to be professional, it is a team game, the gaffer can only pick 11 and the players that come off the bench and those that haven’t been selected are all part of the team.”
