Jamie Day, manager of Vanarama National League club Braintree Town, has once again gone for the familiar in recruiting former Arsenal defender Zach Fagan.

Fagan was with the Gunners from the age of 10 and spent 12 years making the step from triallist to full-time youth, to scholar to under-18s and under-21s.

An elegant, ball-playing defender, Fagan never played for the Arsenal first-team, and had a spell on loan with Braintree`s league rivals Boreham Wood in 2013/14 before being released at the end of that season.

In May 2014 Day signed for him for Welling United and he went on to make over fifty appearances for the Wings.
