Sky Bet League Two club Grimsby Town have confirmed that former Kidderminster Harriers boss Gary Whild has been appointed as the club’s head of recruitment.
Whild, who has been working in a voluntary role with the Mariners, will come in to assist Bignot and Mickey Moore on a more permanent basis.
Manager Marcus Bignot said: “I’m pleased to say we’ve been able to add to the first team staff. The board have been brilliant in supporting that with Gary Whild being able to come in now and assist myself and Mickey at first team level, and also drive the recruitment as well.
“Gary’s time at Kidderminster, his turnover in terms of players identified and the recruitment and the turnover in transfer fees, I think it was in excess of one million pounds he brought into the football club so he’s got an eye for talent.
“And for us the key to success, both on and off the pitch, is having that structure and strategy to put in recruitment and really recruit well, and also develop with your academy and bridge that gap as well so we can produce our own, look after our own, and add one or two along the way.
“He’s assisting me and Mickey at first-team level but he’ll be heading up the recruitment, so if you want to call him head of recruitment”.
